JAMES Morrison has been appointed business development manager at MINI.
The former corporate marketing manager at BMW has been appointed to bring greater corporate focus to MINI.
“MINI has been a successful retail brand for 12 years,” said James, who took up his appointment at the beginning of June.
“Now it is time for MINI to make a greater impact with corporate and SME business sales.”
James said his remit was to grow the MINI corporate business and coach and incentivise the 70 MINI business development managers to grow more business sales and sell more contract hire to the SME market.
“We need to give more energy to business sales,” explained James. “MINI has been very retail in its messaging, whereas fleet is more rational. But I think we can inject some MINI vitality into the business sales market!”
James said the growth of the MINI range to include five door cars, such as the Countryman, and the broadening into the van market with the MINI Clubvan, meant MINI was increasingly relevant to the SME business market.
Steve Chater, head of corporate sales at BMW, said: “Since James has been in the post he has already introduced two significant changes that will result in MINI having a much stronger corporate sales presence. I think he will be a valuable addition to the MINI corporate sales team.”
The MINI range now includes seven models and a van:
- MINI hatch
- MINI Clubman
- MINI Convertible
- MINI Countryman
- MINI Coupe
- MINI Roadster
- MINI Paceman
- MINI Clubvan
