Body & aesthetics

  • Park In Shade – If you have to park your vehicle on the road for prolonged periods of time in summer, try to find a shady spot. The sun can cause paint to fade and peel over time.
  • Wax Regularly – Waxing your vehicle does more than just make it shine; it also protects it against damage. Regular waxing will ensure that your car is more protected from contaminants in the air. It also helps prevent paint chips as it makes your car’s exterior smoother and reduces friction.
  • Keep Some Spare Paint – If you get any small scratches on your vehicle, it’s important to rectify them as soon as possible to avoid a build-up of rust. We’d recommend keeping some spare paint in the same colour as your vehicle at home at all times.

General driving

You may not want to hear it, but sensible driving is one of the best ways to look after your car and prolong its life. Try to:

  • Change gear to neutral rather than first when you need to stop at lights or heavy traffic.
  • Avoid racing your engine while starting up the car, particularly in cold weather.
  • Avoid high speeds and quick acceleration, particularly in extreme weather.
  • Avoid steep turns, potholes and objects in the road in order to prolong the life of your tyres and suspension springs.
  • Try not to make lots of little short trips, and instead consolidate small errands together. Most damage to vehicles takes place in the first ten minutes of driving, while it is effectively warming up – this is particularly true for diesel engine vehicles.
