BMW’s Matt Bristow joins BCA next month as manufacturer sales director reporting to BCA sales director Craig Purvey.

Bristow joins BCA from BMW Group UK Limited, where his role of general manager corporate sales is due to end on September 9.

He will take responsibility for BCA’s strategic relationships with manufacturer customers and their associated finance companies and will head up BCA’s highly experienced manufacturer sales team – a role for which he is supremely qualified.

Bristow held a number of management positions with BMW during 16 years with the company after his career started at RSM Robson Rhodes, a partnership of chartered accountants in the UK and Ireland.

As BMW Group UK general manager, used car and internal sales, he was responsible for remarketing all BMW (UK) ex-management and BMW Financial Services ex-finance cars, the BMW Approved Used retail programme, and all BMW Group internal staff and group fleet vehicle management.

A qualified chartered accountant fluent in German to a professional working proficiency, Matt Bristow joined BMW in 2000 as an operational accountant for BMW Financial Services.

He then became general manager, finance, for Alphabet in 2002, moving up to be general manager, sales controlling, at Alphabet for nearly five years before returning to BMW Financial Services from 2007 to 2010 as general manager, operations and remarketing, and then general manager sales and marketing services.

Then in 2010 he moved over to BMW Group UK as general manager, used car and internal sales, responsible for remarketing all BMW (UK) ex-management and BMW Financial Services ex-finance cars, the BMW Approved Used retail programme, and all BMW Group internal staff and group fleet vehicle management.

His last role as general manager for corporate sales saw the company’s fleet sales grow by 43 per cent at a time of increased competition within the segment.

BCA sales director Craig Purvey said: “We are delighted to welcome Matt Bristow to BCA. He brings a wealth of experience and market knowledge to our sales team which will prove invaluable as we continue to secure significant new contracts in the manufacturer and captive finance sectors.”

Purvey added: “Matt’s appointment underlines our commitment to attract the very best from across the automotive sector as we develop a range of automotive service solutions to add value right along the vehicle supply chain.

“This appointment strengthens our manufacturer team significantly as we continue to develop a broad range of solutions to meet the needs of our customers.”
