Well, that option is the entry-level model in the latest McLaren Sports Series range – the £126,940 McLaren 540C.

Because of the Woking-based manufacturer’s sector-leading residuals – at 63% after three-years – McLaren is offering its own PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) for private buyers of the 540C.
While it might be the entry-level member of the range, fitting below both the 570GT and 570S, there’s nothing basic about the 570PS of performance available from the twin turbo 3.8-litre powerplant, that still equates to 533bhp with 390lb/ft of torque!
This racks up supercar status with 0-62mph acceleration in 3.1 seconds and a top speed just under the magic double ton at 199mph, which for some reason results in insurance band 50.
The only stumbling point on the PCP plan might be the £35,000 deposit, although we’re told the company will accept your trade-in if that’s worth the same. Then, this McLaren will cost you £1,000 a month for a three-year, 30,000-mile term.
You can then claim Approved Mileage Allowance Payments, known as AMAPs, for your business mileage, which are 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles – that’s £4,500 – to offset your lease purchase rental costs.
These are the tax-free pence-per-mile rates applicable only when drivers use their private cars for business purposes.
