Challenging: Highly competitive leasing rates will help kick-start the Mercedes-Benz A-Class arrival in the UK this year

Mercedes-Benz has thrown down the challenge to its rivals with a business-boosting new A-Class for under £250 a month.

The deal is based on a Mercedes-Benz Agility Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) package, and a Mercedes Contract Hire plan for business users.

The Mercedes-Benz A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY SE petrol manual costs £249 a month over a 36 month fixed-term Agility finance offer, based on a £3,279.50 deposit and 4.9% APR.

This will be useful if you prefer to run your business cars privately and then reimburse business mileage using the 45p per mile tax-free AMAP reimbursement system.

For those small businesses which prefer to use business car leasing, there’s Mercedes Contract Hire for the A 180 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY SE diesel manual at the same monthly cost of £249 for 35 months, with six months’ advance payments.

The diesel produces emissions from 98g CO2/km, an output of 109hp and returns 74.3mpg, as well as offering a 13% company car tax banding for company car drivers.

There are further offers available on the A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY Sport manual, which is just a £10 a month increase over the SE line Agility payments.

For a £3,614.07 customer deposit and 4.9% APR, the vehicle is available for £259 per month for a 36 month fixed term.

The Contract Hire plan offering mirrors the cost of the Agility package at £259 per month over 35 months for the new A 180 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Sport manual; the term is a six month advance payment followed by a further 35 months.

The more tauter AMG Sport includes the Dynamic Handling Package and sports suspension with AMG bodystyling and is available for £20 monthly increase over the A-Class Sport, and a £30 increase over the A-Class SE at £279.

The Agility offer available on the A 200 BlueEFFICIENCY AMG Sport petrol manual requires a £4,540.78 customer deposit and offers a 4.9% APR for a £279 monthly payment over a 36 month fixed term.

The Mercedes Contract Hire package for the same model in a diesel variant is £289 a month, with six months’ worth of advance payments and 35 monthly payments. The company car tax banding for this model is 17%.

If that’s not enough to convince you about the new deal, Mercedes-Benz is tailoring its Sport and AMG Sport model lines with two optional packages.

The Night Package is available as a £1,290 upgrade for Sport and £995 upgrade for AMG Sport. The Exclusive Package costs an additional £1,480 for Sport and £1,080 for AMG Sport and Engineered by AMG.

All new A-Class finance offers are available for orders and credit approvals made before 31 December 2012, says Mercedes, and registered by 31 March 2013.

Mike Whittington, Sales Director for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, said, “The new A-Class has attracted record-breaking levels of interest before its launch, so we are pleased to offer both retail and business customers a range of fantastic finance offers to make the vehicle even more attractive.” The A-Class is coming at a good time for Mercedes-Benz with the trend towards businesses and executives downsizing but still looking for the creature comforts they have enjoyed on bigger models.

And with small businesses turning increasingly towards business car leasing, these Mercedes car leasing offers really make the new A-Class very desirable. And with low CO2 emissions for company car drivers’ company car tax allowance, we reckon the new A-Class will be hugely popular.
