Mercedes-Benz S-Class car review – is it the best car in the world?

Effortless comfort and more than a turn of speed. And you could run one as a company car without raising eyebrows too.

The reclining seats bring Business Class comfort to the back of the car. But they too are another extra

What’s not?

  • You can’t get Magic Body Control on any models except the S500. We were told by engineers that it may become available in the future.
  • A lot of things that make the S-Class special, such as the hot stone massage, the autonomous driving system and the reclining seats, are all optional extras.
  • Only the S500, S400 Hybrid and S350 BlueTEC are available at launch. Buyers will have to wait for the company car tax friendly S300 BlueTEC Hybrid and S500 Plug-in Hybrid.

All in all, Mercedes’ boss has a point. Right now, it’s probably the best car in the world

Business Car Manager verdict

The old Mercedes S-Class was already the class leader in the luxury segment and this one follows the same formula but improves it in every single way.

You really have to drive it to experience the refinement and comfort that it offers. As a car to be driven in there isn’t anything better this side of a Rolls-Royce Phantom, especially if you go for the Executive rear seats with the pull-out tables and hot stone massage function.

It’s certainly not the cheapest luxury car but it’s far from the most expensive and – most important of all – it just so happens to be the best.
