MERCEDES-BENZ will deliver more than 2100 vans to vehicle rental provider, Europcar in a deal for Germany.

The vans include 50 special-purpose vehicles that will expand Europcar’s portfolio, with further plans to extend its offerings in the van leasing field to meet customer requirements.

The special-purpose vehicles include particular variants of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, some equipped with coolers from Kiesling or a refrigerated box body from Kerstner for food transport.

The special-purpose vans are to be located in Berlin and Hamburg on a trial basis, and then, if there is sufficient demand, at other German locations.

The Sprinter

The Sprinter specialist models enable delivery of deep-frozen and cooled products, with side doors which enable swift loading and unloading.

Three-way Tipper

The three-way Tipper combines low weight with a high payload, making it useful for the transport of light bulk goods such as sand, gravel, and many others. It also includes an electrohydraulic driver and hydraulic cylinder to ensure lift force.

Vito Crew Van (Mixto)

Flexible crew van offers people/load transport options.

Stefan Sonntag, head of new vehicle sales at Mercedes-Benz van sales, Germany said: “We are very happy about this order from our long-standing partner Europcar.

“Mercedes-Benz vans impress with their versatility, reliability and their extraordinarily good relation between high payload and compactness. Their flexibility meets numerous customer requirements, and this makes them ideal for the rental business.”

Klaus Kujawski, head of van and truck at Europcar, adds: “This year we are expanding our fleet portfolio in the sector of lightweight commercial vehicles for commercial customers, by adding the “Customized Fleet” product line. We are happy to have found a reliable partner in Mercedes-Benz, whose special-purpose vehicles are gradually incorporated in our rental fleet.”
