Audi’s A5 will have a gutsy new 2.0 TFSI engine in August.
Audi calls the new 2.0 TFSI a high-torque engine – and for good reason. It generates 258lb ft of pulling muscle all the way from 1500rpm.
That should endow the A5 2.0 TFSI with strong, easily accessible accelerator responses in real-world driving.
Headline performance figures are impressive: 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 155mph for the front-wheel-drive version.
Despite its 208bhp turbocharged performance the engine is very fuel efficient, aided by Audi’s valve-lift technology.
The A5 2.0 TFSI economy is 42.8mpg; CO2 emissions are 154g/km for the front-wheel drive.
It makes the new Audi A5 2.0 TFSI the most tax-efficient model in the Audi A5 range. It’s better on company car tax than the lower-powered and cheaper 1.8 T A5 model; it should also be better on running costs.
- Audi A5 1.8T 21% tax band; £184 tax per month (40%)
- Audi A5 2.0 TFSI 18% tax band; £171 tax per month (40%)
The Audi A5 2.0 TFSI is priced from £28,760; quattro four-wheel drive from £30,285.
As standard, both versions feature 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, 10-speaker sound system, leather upholstery and rear parking sensors.
