The all-new Mazda6 is unveiled today at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show.

It will go on sale in Britain at the end of this year and showcase the latest technology developed by Mazda to clean up its emissions and maximize fuel savings.

It is the second of a new generation of Mazda vehicles which adopt the Japanese company’s full range of SKYACTIV technology and the ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design language.

Mazda’s environmental technology development device, i-ELOOP, makes its first appearance on new Mazda6 which improves the already outstanding fuel economy achieved with SKYACTIV technology.

Quality: Sharp styling continues from exterior to interior

As the flagship model of a new generation of vehicles, it will build on the momentum created by the success of CX-5, and heralds a new era for the Mazda brand. New Mazda6 will be introduced to global markets starting in late 2012.

In Europe, most attention will focus on the 148bhp version of the all-new 2.2-litre diesel engine, which could deliver CO2 levels as low as 105g/km and return over 70mpg, but this has to be confirmed for homologation.

Mazda has the mainstream rivals from Toyota and Honda in its sights but its engineers are so proud of their progress in refining the car on UK roads that they are confident it will appeal to some premium car buyers as well.

Sleek: Flowing lines show up well from this angle

Prices should start around £20,000 for the 165bhp 2.0-litre petrol version while the 2.2 diesel version is likely to be slightly dearer at £21,000 for the 148bhp version and close to £24,000 in 173bhp guise.
