Small businesses can now make more environmentally-informed choices for daily rental requirements.

National Car Rental is introducing emissions data to its car group descriptions to reflect the average CO2 of vehicles.

The addition will help identify the average emissions of the vehicles available.

The initiative is also being introduced to National’s sister Europcar rental brand too – it’s an industry first.

“Business car managers will be able to make more informed choices about the vehicles they hire in order to meet their own organisation’s environmental goals, helping them contribute to an overall reduction in CO2 emissions,” commented Frank Reynolds, small business specialist, National Car Rental.

The lowest emissions group will feature cars with average emissions of 130g/km. Typical models include small three-door hatchbacks, such as the Peugeot 107.

The highest group will average 230g/km. These executive saloons and auto estates include the Saab 9-5 and the Volvo V70.

Reynolds said National was also looking at introducing a sub-120g/km category in the future, featuring cars like the VW Golf BlueMotion.
