Vauxhall is adding better business sense to the already fashion-friendly ADAM with the introduction of a range of low emissions 3-cylinder petrol engines

VAUXHALL’s ADAM supermini is to gain an engine that will make it a more tempting proposition for fashion-conscious user choosers.

The new 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol unit will be unveiled in the car at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

company car tax rate for a business user will be just 12 per cent

And because the 90PS version offers CO2 emissions of just 99g/km, the 2014/15 BIK company car tax rate for a business user will be just 12 per cent, along with zero road tax and official fuel consumption figures stretching beyond 60mpg.

The CO2 rates for the more powerful, 115PS version are still to be revealed, but are predicted to make the Vauxhall ADAM just as attractive to those business car drivers who want some extra go under their right foot while still protecting their wallet.

The new engine is an all-aluminium 1.0 ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo petrol unit. According to its creators the unit us a ‘clean sheet’ designed made as lightweight and efficient as possible without sacrificing performance.

Vauxhall/Opel engineers focused on eliminating ‘off-beat’ running characteristics – in other words a lack of smoothness – that can put drivers off choosing more economical three-cylinder engines.
