THE next C-Class is waiting in the wings, but Mercedes is still tweaking the outgoing model in order to maintain its appeal.
A new AMG Sport Edition replaces both the previous AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus across the Saloon, Coupe and Estate ranges.
Mercedes says the AMG Sport Edition offers a big value boost compared with the old variants
The AMG Sport Edition takes its body styling, steering wheels, alloys and lowered sports suspension from the previous AMG Sport, but gets a new tail spoiler, dark-tinted headlights and a black grille as well.
Inside, the AMG Sport Edition takes its black Artico (artificial leather) seats from the previous AMG Sport Plus.
Mercedes says the AMG Sport Edition offers a big value boost compared with the old variants. An AMG Sport Edition fitted with optional £300 18-inch seven-spoke AMG alloy wheels only costs £1500 more than the Executive SE, compared with £3000 for the old AMG Sport Plus model.
Two option packs are available for the AMG Sport Edition C-Class. The Premium Package, at £1595, includes COMAND Online with Media Interface, a reversing camera, heated front seats and a DAB digital radio. The £2495 Premium Plus Package adds a panoramic glass sunroof to the Premium Package’s kit list. Mercedes says this gives a 45 per cent saving compared with ordering the relevant options individually.
The AMG Sport Edition is available in conjunction with the C 220 CDI and C 250 CDI diesel engines from £30,170 for the Saloon, £31,370 for the Estate and £32,455 for the Coupe.
