ANYONE who drives around London for business will know all about one major issue – finding a parking space.
locate available parking spots across the city and reserve them in less than 10 seconds
Now a new App claims to take all the hassle – and potential expense – out of parking in the capital.
According to the team behind ParkAround the App will make London parking a breeze – and it has already been named one of Apple’s best new Apps.
The App, which is free to download and compatible with iPhone and Android devices, allows users to locate available parking spots across the city and reserve them in less than 10 seconds.
It is also pitched as a direct money-saver as by reserving a parking place through the application users can gain discounts of up to 80 per cent.
A user simply sets their destination on the App, enters an expected park time and then browses the generated list of available spaces. The App gives an exact cost of how much drivers can expect to pay as well as an overview of parking facilities at the particular location.
ParkAround also offers a voice-activation service that can be used to give spoken integrated driving directions directly to the reserved place, making it unnecessary to enter the booked spot in a GPS navigation system.
The App is an expansion of the first ParkAround system that launched in Athens, Greece in 2013. And according to its creators, the aim is not only to make parking less of a trial, but to reduce congestion in cities by getting cars off the road as quickly as possible, improving the environment as a result.
ParkAround CEO John Katsiotis says the launch should cut some of the stress out of London city driving. “We aim to make city driving more efficient by matching empty spots with drivers and in this way, making it more sustainable,” he adds.
“ParkAround is unique in that it is the only parking App that doesn’t require users to pre-pay for their space. It’s also one of the first to work in real time which means you can reserve a parking place as little as 10 minutes before you need to use it.
“We don’t have booking fees and we actually offer lower prices than drive-up rates so it’s a real win-win for London drivers.”
