BMW M3 CS

  • High performance with everyday usability
  • Lightweight technology improves handling and efficiency
  • Exterior appearance reflects increased performance capability
  • On sale from January 2018, priced from £86,380

WHEN it comes to performance and practicality the BMW M3 sets the benchmark by which all others are measured. Now that benchmark has been raised by the special edition BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 offers the perfect combination of high performance, dynamic handling and everyday usability. With the addition of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) to reduce kerb weight, a more sporting suspension set-up, and increased power the BMW M3 CS raises the bar even further.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine produces 460bhp and 600Nm. That equates to an acceleration time of just 3.9seconds to 60mph and a limited top speed of 174mph. Despite the massive amounts of power the M3 CS can still achieve around 34mpg and emits 194g/km.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with Drivelogic. It offers incredibly fast gear changes without interrupting the business of traction and even offers launch control for optimal acceleration from standstill. The gearbox can also be manually operated via paddles on the steering wheel.

The new M3 CS also has a twin sports exhaust system with four tailpipes integrated into the rear diffuser. It optimises power delivery via an electrically controlled damper system which not only improves performance but also provides the M3 soundtrack.

Like all previous M3 models the M3 CS is designed for pin sharp handling. It features Adaptive M suspension with three driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport + – as well as dynamic stability control. The chassis is very similar to that of the current BMW M3 with Competition Package but in the CS version it has been modified for even more dramatic capability.

The exterior styling benefits from double LED headlights either side of the flat double kidney grille. The three-part front splitter emphasises the aggressive look of the M3 CS, and working with the rear diffuser and boot spoiler optimises airflow and improves handling even further.

The large air intakes adds to the looks and also provides efficient cooling for the six-cylinder twin-turbo engine and brakes. Lightweight roof, bonnet, and body panels lower the centre of gravity and further improve stability at high speed.

The discreet yet sporty interior uses exclusive bi-colour Silverstone/Black leather and Alcantara. The lightweight M sports seats are shared with the M3 with Competition Package and guarantee perfect lateral support combined with excellent long-distance comfort.

The rear seats also feature an exclusive two-tone Merino leather in the same colour combination.

The interior is trimmed in Alcantara with contrast stitching and features an exclusive CS model designation. There are also special door sills featuring the M3 CS logo and an optional M Performance Alcantara steering wheel covered in exclusive, anthracite-coloured Alcantara for maximum grip under all driving conditions.

An exclusive red start/stop button adds to the performance feel of the M3 CS while the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights and BMW Navigation System Professional complete the extensive list of standard equipment.

The BMW M3 CS is on sale from January 2018 with first orders arriving in March 2018 with prices starting from £86,380.

The M3 CS is available in Alpine White as standard, optional colours are San Marino Blue Metallic, Lime Rock Grey Metallic, Frozen Dark Blue II Metallic and Black Sapphire Metallic.
