Make sure you’re using the right rates to claim for your business mileage

HMRC has announced new company car mileage rates to be used from March 01, 2013.

The new company car mileage rates (known as Advisory Fuel Rates, or AFRs) can be used for all journeys from 01 March, says HMRC, to reimburse business mileage undertaken by company car drivers.

Some good news for drivers of small diesels

And company car drivers get some relief from the cost of fuel at the pumps.

Well, there’s relief for those drivers with diesel company cars below 1600cc: for them the new company car mileage rates rise by 1p per mile to 13p.

For the rest (LPG apart), there’s no change – as has been the case since March 2012, which witnessed the last rise.

Drivers of diesel hybrid company cars should use the diesel figures; drivers of petrol-electric hybrid cars should use the petrol figures. The rates are in full on Page 2.
