New Mercedes-Benz E-Class: due in showrooms June

MERCEDES-BENZ is launching an all-new E-Class model.

The new Mercedes E-Class will go on sale in June this year.

The E-Class signature twin headlamp configuration is retained. But the shape is now rectangular rather than round.

Mercedes says the new E-Class will feature a high level of safety and comfort.

Standard features on the new Mercedes E-Class include Attention Assist (detects driver drowsiness); optional features are Adaptive High Beam Assist (beam reacts to oncoming traffic to avoid dazzle); and automatic emergency braking, which is activated when there is acute danger of a collision.

Mercedes says the long-distance comfort of the E-Class has been enhanced. There’s improved seats. And a newly developed suspension system that automatically adjust driving conditions.

There will be three levels of trim on the new Mercedes E-Class: SE, Avantgarde, and Sport. 

Mercdedes E-Class SE features:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • aluminium trim
  • heated front seats
  • four-spoke multifunction steering wheel in fine nappa leather 
  • Audio 20 C /radio system with Bluetooth interface for a mobile phone
  • Advanced Parking Guidance 
 

Mercedes E-Class Avantgarde features;

  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights
  • lowered suspension set-up
  • ambient lighting 
  • different bumper design and a chrome-plated radiator grille 
 

Mercedes E-Class Sport features:

  • AMG bodystyling 
  • 18-inch alloy AMG wheels
  • lowered sports suspension
  • perforated disc brakes with the Mercedes logo.
  • sport seats 
  • four-spoke sports steering wheel with shift paddles (auto only) 
  • black roof lining
 

New four-cylinder diesel engines feature improved performance, better fuel consumption and lower emissions. The petrol engines now feature fuel-saving direct injection – said by Mercedes to provide 20% better fuel economy.

The new Mercedes E-Class goes on sale in mid-June. Prices are not available yet.

  • E 200 CGI 4cyl 184hp, 41.5mpg
  • E 250 CGI 4cyl 204hp, 38.1mpg
  • E 350 CGI 6cyl 292hp, n/a mpg 
  • E 500 8cyl 388hp, n/a mpg
