HYUNDAI wants to be a big player in the SME small fleet market. And it’s starting with the new generation i20 which is offering class leading space in the supermini sector.

The new generation i20 competes with cars in Ford Fiesta sector but virtually offers the interior space of a car from the Focus class above.

We now have a car that can go head to head with the Fiesta

It also offers a very different appearance to the current i20 supermini. Fleet director Martin Wilson describes it as a “two generation jump” from the previous model.

It’s certainly far more grown up and composed with attractive modern styling and a range of fuel efficient engines.

“We now have a car that can go head to head with the Fiesta,” Martin told Business Car Manager.

New generation i20

  • All-new Hyundai supermini
  • Designed for Europe, built in Turkey
  • Class leading interior space – 1892 mm combined front and rear legroom
  • Car measures just over 4m in length
  • Range of big car features – such as panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel
  • Six airbags as standard
  • On sale January 2015

“It will have the dynamics to match a Fiesta, too, as well as the quality.”

New generation i20 will have a range of five different engines choices, all of which are Euro 6 emission compliant. These are:

  • 1.25 75PS petrol
  • 1.25 84PS petrol
  • 1.4  100PS petrol
  • 1.1 75PS diesel
  • 1.4 90PS diesel

It will be offered in S, SE and Premium trim levels.

The CO2 emissions are yet to be confirmed but are likely to be below the 95g/km first year allowance tax break.

“We are confident to have a sub 95g/km car so that it will hit the write down allowances, which is key for small businesses,” said Martin. “I expect the SE trim to be the key car for small fleets.”
