The overall effect is to make the big SUV look even wider

VOLKSWAGEN’S big Touareg SUV is getting a facelift – and looks a lot sharper as a result.

The VW Touareg gets larger headlights – now bi-xenon as standard across the range – a deeper new radiator grille and a reprofiled bumper, all of which are designed to make it appear wider.

The rear bumper is redesigned too, with a new rear diffuser between the twin tailpipes and LED rear foglights integrated in the bumper. There are also new door mirror caps, wheel designs and paint colours.

Inside, the Touareg also gets new colour options for the standard leather upholstery, new design accents and new lighting.

There are quite a few under-the-skin technical changes as well, with all models getting an automatic post-collision braking system, bi-xenon headlights and an economy-boosting coasting function on the eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The optional ADC automatic distance system has been upgraded include a city emergency braking function, and the ability to pull away automatically in stop-and-go traffic.
