A new Audi A3 TDI has been launched with 119g/km CO2 emissions.
These are clean enough to qualify for the sub-121g/km low-tax band in 2007/08.
Cars with CO2 emissions of 120g/km and below qualify automatically for the new 10% banding. Such cars promise ultra-low tax bills for drivers.
The Audi, with its Euro4-compliant engine, will be subject to the standard 3% diesel surcharge. This takes it up to 13% – but still the lowest benefit-in-kind rating for any diesel car.
Additionally, the new A3 will be exempt from London’s congestion charge under the proposed new emissions-based scheme.
