ONLY a few weeks after the introduction of the latest third-generation Octavia hatchback, Skoda has unveiled the Skoda Octavia estate as well. The new car will make its first public appearance at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.
The Greeline version tops 81mpg with minimal company car tax
Like the hatch, the estate is quite a bit bigger than its predecessor; the wheelbase is 11cm (more than four inches) longer than before and the new car is 9cm longer and 4.5cm wider overall. Luggage space is a generous 610 litres (rear seats up) or a whopping 1,740 with the seats down.
A series of ‘Simply Clever’ features improve practicality, including a double-sided boot floor mat, a net restraint system, multiple bag hooks, a waste bin, several bottle holders, multimedia device holders, an ice scraper in the fuel tank opening, a warning-vest holder under the driver’s seat, a coat rack and a remote fold-down function for the rear-seat backrest.
Skoda says the eco-oriented Greenline version should achieve 81.3mpg and 89g/km which will knock a hole in your company car tax. At the other end of the scale there’ll be a 4×4 version as well.
