Michael O'Shea, head of fleet, Volkswagen
New head of fleet: Michael O’Shea

A NEW head of fleet doesn’t come around very often at Volkswagen.

Keeping the hot seat warm for the last 17 years has been Vince Kinner – but now there’s a new man at the top.

Moving to the Volkswagen head of fleet hot spot with immediate effect will be Michael O’Shea, who moves up from his current position as national fleet sales manager at Volkswagen.

Director of Volkswagen, Robert Hazelwood, commented on the appointment: “Michael is extremely well-placed to take over the reins as Volkswagen head of fleet.  He has a wealth of knowledge and experience which will allow him to develop the company’s sales in this key area which accounts for over half of our total annual volume.”

Michael has been at Volkswagen for the last 12 years, including the last three as national fleet sales manager in the Volkswagen fleet department.  Previous posts include the product marketing department.

However, Vince Kinner will still be walking the corridors of fleet at the Volkswagen Group.

A veteran of 20 years at Volkswagen, Vince now takes up a group fleet role tasked with streamlining the fleet function for the group, while reducing administration and costs.

Volkswagen said that all the four brands – Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen – would retain their own separate customer facing sales channels, but back office functions would now be shared.

It is Vince’s job to oversee that streamlining process.
