Amarok: name for new VW pick-up, due in 2010

2010 launch for all new Volkswagen pick-up

VW is launching into the lifestyle market with an all-new VW pick-up.

It will be called the Amarok and is due to go on sale in late 2010.

The pick-up was first launched as a concept at the Hanover Show (see news story VW to launch purpose-built pick-up in 2010).Developed from scratch, the Amarok will be launched as a double-cab pick-up first, with four-wheel drive. A trade oriented single cab will be introduced later.

The concept shown at Hanover – and pictured as a Search and Rescue (SAR) vehicle – is a crew cab model.

It will be powered by Volkswagen
