Top-up: Britain's first pre-pay card system allowing small businesses to buy fuel launches in June

Britain’s first pre-pay-as-you-go fuel card system launches in June.

The Fuelcard Company will introduce its Diesel Advance card using on-line top ups via a credit or debit card or weekly direct debit set at a chosen rate.

A large number of businesses are still unable to pass credit checks to obtain a ‘traditional’ fuel card with an appropriate limit, leaving them without access to valuable monitoring tools and all-important savings at the pump.

Pre-paid and problem free, Diesel Advance is The Fuelcard Company’s solution to this problem, negating the need for pre-qualification credit checks and opening up the benefits to all businesses with a £50 minimum top up.

Diesel Advance’s competitive pricing is based on the bulk fuel market and offers a weekly fixed price, which will be lower than the national pump price nine times out of ten, and the only fee is an annual card charge of just £12.

Operating on the Keyfuels network, Diesel Advance is available for use at 1,700 sites nationwide including Tesco and Morrisons, with The Fuelcard Company’s online site locator and free smartphone app allowing customers to explore the network on the move.

Free online reporting and account management helps fleet managers to keep track of their fuel spend, allowing for increased control over fuel usage and detailed driver monitoring.

An automated email service will alert users when their balance drops down to 25 percent, 15 percent and 0 percent of their estimated weekly volume to ensure the card, and their fuel tank, never runs dry.

Head of Marketing at The Fuelcard Company, Colin Peters is expecting huge interest in this revolutionary new product. “With slow economic recovery and ever-increasing fuel prices, we wanted to help businesses by providing a way to access the benefits of a fuel card, while allowing greater spending control.

“Diesel Advance is the first card of its kind in the UK and, as such, a major step forward for both The Fuelcard Company and the transport sector. We’re anticipating a substantial uptake and working with a new customer base, from the sole trader ‘White van man’ to multi-national haulage operators – the card is available to anyone with the £50 minimum top-up amount.”

Accessing and approving credit for fuel cards can be particularly difficult for businesses with a small fleet but you can get good advice from us and our company car finance section is packed with information.
