However, despite many companies dictating that their fleets must run on diesel, or perhaps a hybrid option, the advent of smaller, more efficient turbocharged petrol engines has clouded this judgement.
It is still more likely that a diesel company car will be more cost-effective than its petrol equivalent, but when taking into account P11D values and CO2 emissions, in some cases a petrol model might cost less to run than a diesel.
