PORSCHE has upgraded its go-anywhere premium compact SUV, the Macan, with more power, a sharper chassis and bigger brakes for a GTS version.

The new Porsche Macan GTS gets a re-engineered chassis, 20hp more power and uprated brakes plus styling highlights featuring typical Porsche GTS motifs.

In terms of performance, the 360hp petrol engine with 500Nm of pulling power places the GTS above the 340hp petrol Macan S and just below the 400hp Macan Turbo in the range line-up.

The technical basis for this is the 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 is coupled with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) seven-speed transmission and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with variable power distribution to all four wheels.

Performance delivered sees 0-62 mph acceleration in just 5.0 secs with the optional Sport Chrono package and a top speed of 160mph. Despite the grunt, the car claims fuel economy of up to 31.4mpg combined and CO2 emissions of 212g/km.
