RENAULT has announced UK pricing and specifications for the Captur baby SUV crossover. The new car, based on the Clio, starts at a keen £12,495.

The Captur will be available with four trim levels – Expression, Expression+, Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav.

All cars get alloys, a practical 60/40 split and sliding rear seat, body-coloured bumpers, cruise control and speed limiter, front and rear electric windows, and a trip computer. There’s also an ECO mode setting, which Renault claims delivers fuel savings of up to up to ten per cent, and a full suite of electronic safety aids, including electronic stability control, electronic traction control, and hill-start assist.

Expression+ models get front fog lights, a hands-free keycard, automatic lights and wipers, and climate control.

But the best UK seller is expected to be the Dynamique MediaNav. That offers zipped seat covers which can easily be swapped or removed for washing and a wide range of personalisation options, including a wide array of shiny interior and exterior trim parts.

There’s also the MediaNav integrated multimedia tablet, which features a seven-inch touchscreen and sat nav, Bluetooth, USB and hands-free technology. The Dynamique MediaNav also has cornering lights and a leather steering wheel.

The top-of-the-range Dynamique S MediaNav adds features such as electric folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors, heated front seats, contrasting roof and door mirror colours, tinted rear windows and larger seventeen-inch alloys.

There are three engines, all turbocharged. The petrol engines are the 1.2 TCe 120 paired with the EDC dual-clutch self-shifting transmission (125g/km), and the three-cylinder 0.9 TCe 90 (115g/km). The sole diesel, likely to be the company car choice, is Renault’s 1.5 dCi 90, available with either manual (95g/km) or EDC gearboxes. All manuals get fuel-saving stop/start technology.

UK orders open on 1 May, with the first cars arriving in showrooms at the beginning of July.
