GOOD to see that Renault is providing some practical help for small business and SMEs that want to go green by turning to electric vehicles.

The company has just appointed two specialists to its fleet team specifically tasked with helping businesses transition to EVs (electric vehicles).

The first is Mathew Kiziuk, who joins from the Renault dealer network where he was brand manager.

And the second is Jonny Berry, formerly in the Nissan dealer network and recently awarded the Global CEO Award and named Best Overall EV Dealer for Electric vehicle performance in the UK. So clearly knows his stuff.

“Many people can be initially sceptical about electric vehicles, particularly business. In the last three years the challenge of explaining the benefits of electric vehicles has been a great experience,” explained Jonny.

I initially learned about these two new roles earlier in the year when I spoke to Mark Dickens who is the national

fleet operations manager for Renault. He was very keen that there should be members of the fleet team who could give practical advice to businesses taking what can be a considerable step:

  • Chargers at work and home
  • What are the issues of range?
  • How will my drivers adapt?
  • How will it fit into my business?

There are any benefits to small businesses.

If it’s your SME business, then running costs are much lower – the cars cost pence to ‘fuel’ while service and maintenance is drastically reduced. For drivers there’s the opportunity to substantially reduce exposure to company car tax. By 2020/21 tax year, EVs with zero emissions will be taxed at just 2% of P11D.

And with both a car and van range of EVs, Renault has plenty to offer small businesses. Indeed, the Renault Kangoo Van Maxi Z.E. won the Best Green Van award from our sister title Business Vans.
