Blog: RALPH MORTON
Last week, as I was bashing away at the keyboard for BCM, the stillness outside the back of the office was wonderfully challenged by the barking roar of a V8.
A Mercedes V8.
The engine belongs to BCM’s landlord. OK, let me rephrase that. The engine belongs to a Mercedes SL, which belongs to BCM’s landlord Peter Edney.
Now, by trade Peter is an accountant. So you’d expect him to have something sensible. Like a Toyota.
But no. He has a Merc SL.
Two of them. (Is that good accounting?)
Recently Peter bought himself a 53 plate Mercedes SL. And while Peter thought he could keep both SLs, it’s not proving practical. So this 1998 SL500 – with an exhaust system minus a bit of the waffling for additional V8 sonority – is on the market: 107,000 miles on the clock, MOT and tax, just serviced, and comes with its own special greeny/blue paint colour that changes in the light. And a pot of paint just in case…
I wouldn’t mind it myself, but with a family it wouldn’t be the most practical.
It’s on the market, with removable hardtop, for £9,500 ono. If you’re interested call Peter on 020 8979 0287.
