SEAT Leon ST estate car review: they’ve only skimped on the price

All the crisp styling, tight running costs, and driving experience of the hatchback, but in an estate car.

Hard to see how you can beat the Leon’s mix of excellent build quality, entertaining drive and value for money

Business Car Manager Verdict

Is it a large hatch or an estate? It really doesn’t matter, the SEAT Leon ST offers plenty of space that’s likely to appeal to company car drivers that need the carrying capacity during the week, and at the weekends require the additional boot space for family or lifestyle pursuits.

And it does all this with remarkably good grace and at a very good price, especially with the no charge Technology Pack included in the P11D price.

With the seats down there’s 1470 litres back here. The backs of the rear seats don’t drop flat which is a shame, but on the other hand as a £75 option the front passenger seat will fold right forward for carrying long narrow items

Company car tax is highly competitive, and the car’s additional space will appeal to those company car drivers that want to move down a segment, save tax but not sacrifice anything when it comes to interior room. Because there’s plenty of rear leg room too.

It’s not perfect – the ride is firm and the tyres can pick up some road roar, while the 1.4 TSI petrol model is the more enjoyable drive – but as an all-round package the Leon ST diesel is really very compelling.

You can have the additional space and practicality of the SEAT Leon ST 1.6D SE for around a £1500 P11D saving on an equivalent five-door Golf. And enjoy all the benefits of the Volkswagen Group’s engineering that underpin the SEAT.

Little wonder, then, that SEAT’s head of fleet and business has reported brisk interest from fleet and business customers. They can spot value at 100 paces. And the SEAT Leon ST is loaded with it.
