‘We anticipate a 60% mix on fleet’ – Simon Broome, product manager for the new Peugeot 3008 SUV

PEUGEOT is on an SUV offensive, with the face-lifted 2008 launched earlier this year. Then the 3008, which on top of its distinctive, attractive new look, has gone from a crossover to attacking the closely-fought C-SUV sector.

The SUV range is completed with the all-new seven-seat 5008, joining the new French SUV family.

Business Car Manager spoke to Simon Broome, product manager for the new 3008 SUV at the international launch to see how the new French challenger will appeal to SME/fleet buyers.

  •  Do you have any predictions as to what the fleet/retail mix for the new Peugeot 3008 SUV will be? Will this be more of a corporate choice than the first-generation model?

“We anticipate a 60% mix on fleet.

“Yes the car will be more of a corporate choice, building on the impressive functionality and efficiency of the outgoing model that its customers loved, but wrapped up in a much more distinctive vehicle with cutting edge styling and technology.”

‘We believe this will make it a leader in the SUV segment.’

  • What do you anticipate being the key SME/fleet model in the new Peugeot 3008 SUV range?

“Our anticipation would be for the Allure trimmed, 1.6L BlueHDi 120 S&S to be the key model for SME/fleet customers.

“The Allure specification level has historically performed well. Key standard specification including 3D Connected Navigation, 180° Reversing Camera and driver aids including Active Blind Spot Detection and Active Lane Keeping Assistance, are features that would be valued by SME/fleet customers.

“CO2 emissions are an impressive 104g/km on this version.”

  • What do you think will be the key attraction of the new Peugeot 3008 SUV for the SME fleet buyer?

“For me there are a number of features that will attract buyers, firstly the looks – an SUV needs to make its presence known with an assertive style that is distinctly Peugeot, and the new 3008 SUV delivers this supremely.

“Then there is the interior which features our latest Peugeot i-Cockpit, as well as being unique to the brand and visually appealing, it is ergonomically designed to aid with usability, the compact sports steering wheel increases agility, while the 12.3-inch head-up digital instrument panel not only looks great but is customisable on all versions, presently unheard of in the segment.

“On top of the stylish interior and exterior it also has a precise and engaging driving experience building on the strengths of its predecessor by offering outstanding levels of efficiency and excellent levels of modularity.”

  • Are you going to be doing anything differently to get the new Peugeot 3008 SUV out to SME/fleet buyers?

“We will be showcasing the vehicle to our key SME and fleet customers, to allow them to thoroughly evaluate and appreciate everything the car has to offer.

“We have latest technology 3D virtual-reality headsets and other activities to ensure potential customers get every opportunity to see and experience the wide number of features and virtues of this new vehicle.

“We are confident that everyone will be hugely impressed with this significant step forward that the new model offers.”
