Business Car Manager Verdict
For the most part, the Smart fortwo continues to be a very clever idea. A tiny 2-seat city car that’s uncommonly roomy inside, that’s easy and convenient to park, is fun and different and crucially takes up very little road space. In today’s eco age, you could say it’s supremely right-on.
This cityflame edition energetically pumps up the visuals and will definitely get you noticed. The classy cabin, with its stylish mix of colours, is a stand out.
Even in this second generation guise, we’re still not sold on the dynamics, however. The fortwo really ought to ride and handle better and the robotised 5-speed transmission remains an acquired taste. The cityflame treatment also lists for an extra £1420 over normal.
Yet we can see a business case based around those low running costs (and 11% BIK) for an SME, perhaps, based in the city.
True, a VW up! might seem a more sensible eco buy, all things considered.
There again, with a car like the Smart fortwo cityflame, who wants sensible?
