Subaru drops ETCo package and introduces five-year warranty

The Subaru ETCo package was a ground breaking customer care scheme said to be worth £7000 to owners who used all the benefits. But they didn’t, so Subaru has replaced it with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty.

Subaru’s popular XV gets a longer warranty but loses the comprehensive ETCo care package

SUBARU is increasing its standard warranty from three years (60,000 miles) to five years (100,000 miles).

At the same time, it is withdrawing its pioneering Subaru ETCo (or Everything Taken Care of) scheme introduced last year – that pampered Subaru owners with a comprehensive multi-year care package providing benefits with an estimated value of up to £7,000.

Among the ETCo services were repairs to damaged alloys and bodywork, annual valeting, pick-up and drop-off for servicing, key replacement and a free first MoT – with a contribution to any repair costs.

So why the change?

According to Haydn Davies, Subaru UK Marketing Director “Feedback received from our dealer network and their customers has confirmed that the ETCo package, though designed to be a ground-breaking and industry-leading offer, was less attractive to the majority of prospective buyers than a longer warranty.”

He added “Research also showed that customers were not using the services offered by the ETCo package. However, longer warranties are considered more valuable and so to demonstrate that we listen to our customers and have faith in Subaru’s superb long term reliability and durability, we have introduced a five year warranty.”

Subarus sold before the end of last year will continue to benefit from the ETCo package.
