ELECTRIC car maker Tesla is expanding the coverage of its Supercharger network of charging points. The Tesla Supercharger network is provided free of charge for life to owners of the company’s Model S.
One new charging point will bring the Tesla Supercharger network to central London for the first time.
It is located in the car park of the Hyatt Regency London hotel in Portman Square, and users will benefit from an hour of free parking while topping up their batteries.
The second new Supercharger location is at the Hyatt Regency in Bridge Street, Birmingham.
“This Birmingham location signifies our first move out of London in recognition of the fantastic support in the area,” said Georg Ell, Tesla’s UK Country Director.
“We will open a store in coming months offer Midlands-based Model S owners a convenient local service.
“Both Hyatt Regency hotels offer a great base for Model S owners whilst charging. With everything from bars and restaurants through to business centres and gym facilities, there is plenty to keep you occupied for your 30 minute charge.”
The expansion of the dedicated fast-charging Tesla Supercharger network is a major plus for owners – who already benefit from far better range than most other EV drivers – given the fragmented and unreliable experience offered by much of the UK’s existing public charging infrastructure.
