Scandalised woman at diesel company car tax going up

Budget clobbers company car drivers

The decision to add an additional 1% to the tax bill of diesel company car drivers is nothing less than outrageous. What’s happened to ‘stable government’? What happened to three years’ notice before changes were made to company car tax? Blown about by public outcry over diesel emissions.

And then what about the additional road tax?

Jonathan NolanI was talking to Jonathan Nolan (left), general manager of leasing broker UK Carline. He told me:

“Under the new rules, new diesel car owners could face a £500 increase when taxing their vehicle in the first year. It will certainly be interesting to see how much of the new tax goes towards the clean-air fund as outlined in the Budget, when so little revenue from VED currently goes towards our roads.”
