What is it?

This is the latest Corsa in highest power 95PS 1.3 CDTi ecoFLEX diesel form.

Vauxhall are expecting business buyers doing motorway miles to go for this ecoFLEX diesel version of the Corsa – but is over £16,000 a bit rich for a supermini?

What’s hot?

  • Not all new but the 1.3-litre CDTi has received updates, as it now meets Euro 6 emissions regulations, is capable of 85.6mpg with stats of just 87g/km and falls into the 16% tax band. Other highlights, like other diesel models, are the low down torque and athletic acceleration (0-62mph in 11.9 seconds). Vauxhall have also worked on the refinement, with the level of vibration much reduced.
  • Despite the weight of the diesel engine, dynamically the latest Corsa still feels sharp. The steering is reasonably communicative and bodyroll is kept well in check. It is no Fiesta, but the Corsa is pretty good to drive.

  • The black 16-inch alloy wheels of our test car fitted in with the sporty feel of the SRi trim, but because they are just 16s, the ride remains quite refined and isn’t unsettled by unmade roads.
  • The exterior styling might be evolutionary, but we’re big fans of the Corsa’s stylish new interior. The biggest change is the curvy, well-made dashboard with one of the highlights being the touch-screen infotainment system. We also like the standard chequered SRi cloth trim, which brought back memories of the 80s, when the SRi trim level was sportier than we think it is now.
