Volkswagen Caravelle Business
Lap of luxury – The Caravelle passengers travel in style

THIS is a poshed-up for business version of the large Caravelle people carrier, itself based on the Transporter van. No bad thing as this was our sister title’s Business Van of the Year 2014.

It’s a six-seater featuring leather-clad captain’s chairs, a seven-speed DSG auto box and electric sliding doors to both sides. So step inside…

What’s good?

  • It’s all very nicely attired for business…
  • …those electric sliding doors open up to reveal two rows of captains’ chairs in the rear with easy access for the first pair
  • To get into the back involves sliding one of the first row seats forward on its runners. So there’s no unsightly clambering over seats
  • There’s a silver step kick plate as well to help you up, which is also illuminated along with a glowing blue ‘Business’ sign
  • Progress on motorways is serene and highly comfortable, helped by the high up seating position
  • At night, rear passengers have overhead reading lights so colleagues can read or work on their computers
  • While the rear compartment can be configured into a meeting room by swivelling the centre chairs round 180 degrees and using the pop up table
  • Rear view camera for reversing – the Caravelle business is a big old thing, so you really need this
  • Subtle working side assist flashes amber on the big door mirrors to warn you of vehicles in any potential blind spot
  • It feels a spacious and relaxed environment in which to travel
  • There’s also an integrated fridge at the rear
  • And wifi for colleagues to stay up to date on their laptops or tablets
