Verdict: The face-lifted Volkswagen Polo is an improved premium supermini with clever technology and it’s more efficient. Shame the Fiesta is still more fun to drive.
Business Car Manager Verdict
Vokswagen have cleverly face-lifted their supermini, and have sensibly left the things alone that the Polo did well – such as the comfortable ride and secure handling.
However, they’ve added clever technology including the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and have made it more efficient with the Euro6 compliant engines.
The result takes the Polo back to the top of the pile – well, almost. If you value a sharper and more fun to drive car then head for the Ford Fiesta. If not, and you want a classy and spirited supermini that’s good on company car tax, then head for this new Polo.
