Verdict: The face-lifted Volkswagen Polo is an improved premium supermini with clever technology and it’s more efficient. Not in the same fun to drive category as a Fiesta, but a great all-rounder for company car drivers.

This engine replaces the old 85PS 1.4 TSI engine.
You get the idea that Volkswagen went with the feeling ‘that if it aint broke then don’t fix it’ with the exterior and interior styling. As at first glance, you’ll be hard pressed to spot the changes.
Look closer and you’ll spot the re-profiled front and rear bumpers, chrome-trimmed grille and revised rear light clusters.
Inside, the big giveaway that you’re looking at, or are in a face-lifted are the new infotainment systems. These dominate the Polo’s centre console. On top of this, there’s new column stalks borrowed from the Golf and the multi-function steering wheels are a new design.
