New Volvo XC90
World first safety technologies on the new XC90 include a run-off protection package and auto brake at intersection capability

On top of the interior design, Volvo has joined forces with renowned British audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins to offer an optional 1,400 watt 19-speaker sound system in the all-new XC90.

A Volvo wouldn’t be a Volvo without some sophisticated safety kit and the all-new XC90 doesn’t disappoint.

The all-new XC90 includes two world first safety technologies: a run-off road protection package and auto brake at intersection capability.

In a run-off road scenario, the all-new Volvo XC90 detects what is happening and the front safety belts are tightened to keep the occupants in position.

To help in the prevention of spine injuries, clever new seats absorb the energy between the seat and seat frame cushions, when the car encounters a hard landing in the terrain.

Also new to the Volvo XC90, is automatic braking, which works if the driver turns in front of an oncoming car. This is a common scenario at busy city crossings as well as on highways, where the speed limits are higher.

Fitted as part of the standard City Safety kit, this auto brake function also covers vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians in front of the car, day and night.

These safety features should help Volvo to reach its Vision 2020 goal of no fatalities in Volvo cars.

The all-new Volvo XC90 will be available in the UK from April 2015, with the entry-level D5 version starting at £45,785.
