Business Car Manager Verdict
The pragmatic Volkswagen Golf has long made a lot of sense to business users and the Golf Cabriolet is there to add a dash of style of plenty of open air fun.
The Golf R Cabriolet, however, is a special case.
While it has a lot of the rationality that makes the Golf such a firm company car favourite, there’s no denying that it’s a niche of a niche model that’s pretty expensive (despite the official price cut) and 190g/km is far from business car friendly.
Glamour, the Golf R Cabriolet is not short of. It’s also ultra smart in terms of presentation. But whether it is significantly different or better than the GTI Cabriolet, one step below, is up to business users and company car drivers to decide.
There again, for the well-to-do small business owner, say, who wants something different in the latest, hottest open top VW, the Golf R Cabriolet is all there, ready to go.
Next stop, St Tropez……
