THOSE clever automotive data experts in cap hpi’s Gold Book team have had a close look at the new cars launching in 2017 and have come up with a useful shortlist of what they believe will be the 2017 residual value pacemakers.

The Gold Book team provides residual value (RV) forecasts for new vehicles up to five years in the future. Check out the list below.

Audi Q2

Audi Q2 1.4 TFSi
Audi Q2 1.4 TFSi Sport

Audi’s baby SUV looks interesting, drives well and oozes the quality that Audi are known for. However, the Q2 adds levels of personalisation that we’ve not seen from Audi before. Why not check out our Audi Q2 1.4 TFSI Sport  and 1.4TDi Sport reviews to find out more.

New BMW 5-Series

Okay, so the styling of the all-new 5-Series is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but there are plenty of changes under the skin of the all-new G30-generation.
Highlights include more interior and bootspace, standard technology, plus efficient and powerful new petrol and diesel engines. Learn more about the new Five here.

Ford Fiesta

New Fiesta ST Line

Like the BMW 5-Series, the new Ford Fiesta which goes on sale later this year, features ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ styling changes when compared to the current car. However dig deeper and you’ll see that the eighth-generation Fiesta range is very different to the car it replaces.

The main change is a move towards premium, with Ford offering the Vignale and other high-spec Fiestas including 15 active safety and semi-autonomous driving features. There’s more on the all-new Fiesta here.

Land Rover Discovery

Land Rover’s key launch for 2017 is the all-new Discovery SUV, which will go on sale in spring 2017. Highlights are the sleek new look, the stylish interior that features new infotainment systems that can link up smartphone apps and the fact that despite the sharp design, the Discovery’s off-road abilities are apparently unchanged. Engine choices will be the usual petrol and diesel power.

Mazda CX-5

The all-new Mazda CX-5 is designed to kick-start a new era for the Japanese company. On top of the sleek new look, other CX-5 highlights include new technology such as a TFT display for the instruments and Mazda’s MZD connected technology system, allowing users to link to the infotainment system with their smartphones or other devices.

Plus, a better, more comfortable drive thanks to its G-Vectoring Control and the MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension.

MINI Countryman

MINI Countryman Cooper S

The second-generation Countryman has grown so much, that on top of being the biggest MINI ever, it’s now up against C-Segment rivals such as the Audi Q2 (that’s also on this list).

But there’s more to the new Countryman than space, MINI have also upped the quality, fitted more standard kit and given the styling more off-road attitude. Find out more about the new Countryman, with our Countryman Cooper D review.

Latest in a line of five-generations of Micra, the new car boasts neat and modern exterior and interior styling, spacious interior with comfortable driving position and a decent mix of comfort plus a dynamic drive.

The new Micra is due in the UK later this year, but we’ve got more details here.

Peugeot 3008

Peugeot 3008 SUV

The Peugeot 3008 is back for 2017 in second-generation form, but this time it’s an SUV rather than a MPV! New 3008 highlights include an attractive new look inside and out, with the inside particularly radical with the latest version of the i-Cockpit included and its TFT screen instruments.

Plus plenty of innovative safety and tech features. We’ve driven the Peugeot 3008 in the UK, learn more here.

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda Kodiaq

Kodiaq introduces two Skoda firsts, the first being that it’s the company’s first seven-seater and the other being its their first proper SUV.
Highlights include the sharp looks, high quality interior, the wide choice of engines and transmissions and the fact that all Kodiaqs are great to drive. The Kodiaq launches in the spring, but we’ve already driven the Kodiaq 2.0-litre TDI 150 SE-L 4×4 – check it out.

Suzuki Ignis

There is more to Suzuki’s new compact crossover than the quirky, retro looks. The Ignis also offers impressive interior packaging, has high-tech safety features, lots of standard kit, is keenly priced and is offered with the choice of four-wheel drive or innovative mild-hybrid drivetrains.

Want to know more? Well, we’ve driven the two-wheel drive Ignis SZ3 version.

Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport

Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport

Big news for Vauxhall and business customers alike, has to be the launch of an all-new Insignia.
Now called the Grand Sport, the second-generation Insignia is based on a new modular platform that should mean this Vauxhall has increased passenger and boot space over the outgoing car, but yet it should also be 175kg lighter! The Insignia Grand Sport also shows a new look that will be rolled out to the rest of the range.

Volvo XC60

New Volvo XC60 expected to be scaled-down version of XC90 pictured

Continuing all the good work of the previously launched XC90 SUV, plus the executive S90 saloon and V90 estate have done for the iconic Swedish brand, is the all-new XC60.

It is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and we think the new XC60’s styling will be a scaled-down version of its bigger brother the XC90.
So those distinctive ‘Thor’s hammer’ front lights and stacked rear lights will feature. Inside the XC60, we’re also expecting another version of their tablet-style infotainment system.
