NEW Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept for Geneva Show reveal

WHOAAH! Get some of this. The Range Rover Evoque has been an instant hit among small business owners and SME directors – but the baby Range Rover looks like it could be the darling of more with this.

A Range Rover Evoque Convertible.

It’s certainly one to put on your business car list if you want a new car in the future.

But how long will you need to wait? Land Rover is saying only that the new Evoque Convertible is a design and engineering study, and that there are no plans to bring a production version to market.

The Evoque Convertible Concept will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March to gauge reation, says Land Rover, and further extend the appeal of the brand.

“The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable,” commented Land Rover design director, Gerry McGovern.

Based on the Range Rover Evoque Coupe model, the Convertible features a fully retractable roof system with a clean tonneau cover deck with sports-style buttresses to give the car a clean uncluttered visual appeal with the roof  fully retracted.

There are four seats and a drop down tailgate for traditional Land Rover versatility. The Evoque might have lost its roof, but says Land Rover’s engineers, none of its structural rigidity nor such typical Range Rover features as Terrain Response, surround cameras, Park Assist and 8-inch dual view touch screen.

Finished in a new metallic Causeway Grey paint, the Evoque Convertible Concept features unique 21-inch Titan silver wheels while the interior has an Ivory finish with leather seats featuring sporty perforated panels and Ivory contrast stitching.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is the sort of car that’s likely to feature highly on the choice list for the directors of any small fleet – and while Land Rover says the Convertible is merely a Concept for assessment purposes,  we can’t see reaction being anything other than positive. Can you?

So expect to see the Range Rover Evoque Convertible on sale early in 2013. Prices have yet to be announced but expect the Evoque drop-top to be in the £40,000 price bracket.
